Linebacker Anthony Sacca Sets Commitment Date

Notre Dame linebacker target Anthony Sacca has set a date for his commitment

Notre Dame has been pursuing several big time linebackers in the 2025 recruiting class. One of the most familiar names is Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep star defender Anthony Sacca, who has been high on the Irish for some time now.

Sacca announced that he has set his commitment date for Saturday, March 30th. The Philadelphia native will be selected between his previously announced finalists Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, Wisconsin and Duke.

Notre Dame heads into this decision in a good place. They were very early on Sacca, consistently building a strong relationship over the last year. Al Golden has been a tremendous asset in this recruitment, knowing the Sacca family for a long time after playing with his father Tony Sacca at Penn State.

The Philadelphia native was a huge reason that St. Joseph’s Prep finished with a 13-1 overall record and a state championship in 2023. Sacca finished with 67 total tackles and two interceptions on the season.

The Hawk’s only loss on the season came in the opener against IMG Academy, coming out just short 17 to 14. In the other 13 games, St. Joseph’s Prep outscored their opponents by a 565-133 point margin.

Sacca is considered a high level player in the 2025 recruiting class by multiple major recruiting platforms. He is ranked as high as the No. 57 overall player and the No. 7 linebacker in the class by Rivals. Sacca is a near consensus four-star recruit by every major recruiting platform, the lone exception being On3 that has him ranked as a three-star.

Some of the top schools who have offered, and are pursuing Sacca outside of his finalists, include Georgia, Michigan, Miami, Penn State, USC, Oregon, Florida State, Texas A&M, Tennessee, South Carolina, Nebraska, Virginia Tech, Maryland, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, Syracuse and Rutgers among others.

Notre Dame currently has one two linebacker commits in the 2025 class, with Hawaii standout Josiah Kia and Illinois defender Dominik Hulak already joining the class. Kia is projected as a linebacker in college, while Hulak is more of a hybrid player that projects to play the "Money" position for the Fighting Irish.
