Notre Dame made the cut along with Ohio State, LSU, Penn State and Michigan.
This was an expected move, but an important one nonetheless. Spindler is a consensus Top 100 recruit and he's been a top target for Notre Dame from the beginning of its 2021 recruiting efforts.
The 6-5, 290-pound guard is ranked as the nation's No. 56 overall player according to Rivals, No. 65 according to ESPN and No. 66 according to 247Sports. He's ranked as the No. 44 overall player and No. 2 guard on the 247Sports composite ranking.
Spindler is actually a two-star for Clarkston, and there were some programs that were initially looking at him as a defensive player. Spindler could easily be a four-star defensive tackle if he chose to play on that side of the ball.
As an offensive player he has truly elite talent. Spindler combines top-notch size, power and athleticism for the interior of the line. He's athletic enough and long enough to play tackle should the need arise, but he has the tools to be a dominant interior blocker.
Landing Spindler is the key to Notre Dame recovering up front and putting together the elite line class it was expected to land when the 2021 class began to get put together.
Notre Dame has been considered Spindler's leader for some time, and now the key is holding off other top programs and eventually adding him to the class, although that won't be easy.
