Pass Rusher Austin Alexander Excited For Notre Dame Return Visit

In this story:
After a long delay in contact, Notre Dame extended an offer to 2025 Burlington (Ky.) Cooper defensive end Austin Alexander on August 30th. Nearly a year after he originally visited South Bend, Alexander made his return to the campus for their battle with Tennessee State the following weekend.
Alexander is now set for another return trip to Notre Dame this weekend for their battle with USC. Having already been to campus multiple times, this trip is more about really assessing what that fit could be like with the Irish.
"I am expecting to have a good time and watch a good game,” Alexander told Irish Breakdown. "I’ll be really trying to figure out if Notre Dame is home.
"Recruiting has been a lot of fun and I’ve been developing a good relationship with the coaches,” he continued. "A lot of the coaches catch up every week, including Notre Dame since they offered me.”
Since getting into the fold, Notre Dame has quickly made Alexander feel like a priority. They have clearly made up for lost time and captured the attention of the talented pass rusher.
"They love my skills as an edge rusher and they want me to bring that pass rush to the team,” he explained. "They are a really good program with a really good coach. Unfortunately their very tough schedule has not helped their record on paper, but they are looking up for sure.”
Notre Dame had to really make up some ground quickly. They appear to have done that, although there isn’t a firm decision date set.
"Honestly there isn’t a firm timeline at all,” he said. "I’m not really sure when I want to pull the trigger.”
The Kansas star is the nephew of former Alabama and Seattle Seahawks star running back Shaun Alexander. That talent clearly runs in the family.
Alexander has seen his offer list steadily expand over the last few months. Some of his notable offers include the Fighting Irish, Kentucky, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, Purdue, Louisville, Illinois and Duke among several others.
The rankings for Alexander have also been steadily climbing. He now ranks as a four-star recruit on the On3 ranking. Alexander is currently viewed as the No. 195 overall player and No. 18 edge in the 2025 recruiting class.
The 6-3, 240-pound pass rusher made his presence felt as a sophomore. He finished with 84 total tackles and 11 sacks. Alexander also intercepted a pass and blocked a kick.
