Analyst Reveals Why Chip Kelly Was 'The Right Choice' For Ohio State

On3's J.D. PicKell said Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator will have several chances to show off his skills, including against the Oregon Ducks and Michigan Wolverines.

The Ohio State Buckeyes have a tough schedule ahead of them.

This would typically be seen as a bad thing, but On3 analyst J.D. PicKell believes that might not be the case. PicKell said during his show on Tuesday that the numerous high-caliber contests on the Buckeyes' 2024 lineup will benefit the innovative mind of offensive coordinator Chip Kelly.

CHIP KELLY

"The places we're going to see it show itself, the places we'll see Chip Kelly's offensive acumen show itself is in those big games," PicKell said. "At Oregon. At Penn State. Michigan to end the season in Columbus. Those are all games where I think we're gonna see Chip Kelly prove why he was the right choice for Ohio State as the next offensive coordinator."

Kelly will also have some of the best talent in the country at his disposal. PicKell said the Buckeyes did an excellent job backfilling the positions where they lost players and adding additional pieces to create a championship team.

"You lost Marvin Harrison Jr.," PicKell said. "There's no replacing him. But you bring in (transfer running back) Quinshon Judkins, you bring back (running back) TreVeyon Henderson, you got (transfer quarterback) Will Howard. I see all the ingredients here for Chip Kelly to do some really good things offensively."

Ohio State fans will get their first taste of what Kelly will bring to the offense this season during the 2024 Spring Game, which is scheduled for 12 p.m. on Saturday, April 13 at Ohio Stadium.
