Let's nip it in the bud right now: quarterback Air Noland isn't going anywhere.

The Ohio State Buckeyes' 2024 signal-caller commit struck down any possible contemplations or musings fans may have on him de-committing or flipping his pledge to the program on RJ Young's "Number One College Football Show" Friday.

"That's a no-go," Noland said. "Me and my guys coach Dennis, coach Hartline, coach Ryan Day know, they know I'm locked in. They know all the commits that we have right now are locked in, so if you're a Buckeye, you're always a Buckeye. There's no decommitting and flipping if you're truly a Buckeye."

In today's college football landscape, a player's verbal commitment means nothing until he puts pen to paper on signing day.

Coaches won't back off recruiting a committed prospect. Sometimes offering better Name, Image and Likeness opportunities or having the pedigree as a more stable program for player development and team success can lead to players de-committing and flipping their commitment.

Ohio State has already dealt with it in the 2024 cycle with quarterback Dylan Raiola, but Noland said Ohio State "was the best choice" for him "on and off the field" and in developing him "as a young man."

"It fit me from an offensive standpoint," Noland said. "It fit me from meeting the coaches, a relationship standpoint. My family felt very comfortable with them, it felt very comfortable with me, so why not Ohio State?"

Noland said a meeting with head coach Ryan Day sealed the deal in his decision between Ohio State and Alabama.

"Coach Ryan Day really topped it off with a great two days when I visited Ohio State," Noland said. "Talking to Ryan Day, he just sounded like he wanted to develop me more. He sounded like he had more opportunities and chances with getting me to the next level."
