Buckeyes Outside Top 2 in Post-Spring College Football Rankings

In this story:
The Ohio State Buckeyes' 2022 season ended prematurely with a 42-41 loss to Georgia in the Peach Bowl on New Year's Eve. The week before, the Buckeyes suffered their first loss of the season to the rival Wolverines 45-23 at home.
And now, Ohio State loses several key players to the NFL Draft and graduation. But for a storied program, it's business as usual as players will be replaced through the transfer portal and recruitment, and coach Ryan Day has his eyes set on a College Football Playoff appearance for 2023.
Everyone is chasing Georgia, who won a second-consecutive national championship last year, and the road to a title appears to once again go through the SEC. But the Buckeyes might have a little something to say about that.
Media outlet 247Sports released its early 2023 preseason rankings, but now that additions have been made to spring rosters and teams have completed their spring games, changes have occurred. And the Buckeyes are no exception.
As we head into summer, 247Sports expects the Buckeyes to appear near the top of the preseason top 25 come August.
3. OHIO STATE BUCKEYES
247Sports' way-too-early ranking pre-spring: No. 4
"Surprised to see Ohio State outside the top 2 exiting spring? For the first time in several years, the Buckeyes have somewhat of a quarterback controversy entering the 2023 season with Kyle McCord and Devin Brown battling it out during spring camp. Given Ryan Day's history, he'll decide early in fall camp who's getting the majority of first-team reps. Marvin Harrison Jr. returns at wideout along with Emeka Egbuka, giving the Buckeyes two of the top players on the outside within what will be a loaded offense."
The biggest question will be at quarterback for the Buckeyes, but the rest of the roster seems set. The performance of Brown and/or McCord under center may dictate how this season goes for Ohio State.
