Offensive Players to Watch in Ohio State Buckeyes Spring Game

Here are some of the biggest players on which to keep your eyes during the 2024 Ohio State Buckeyes Spring Game on Saturday.

The Ohio State Buckeyes play football in just a handful of days.

It might not be an official game, but the 2024 Spring Game is still something for which Buckeyes fans get excited.

Players new and old are getting ready to make their season debuts to Buckeye Nation. Here are some of the biggest names to watch when Ohio State takes the field on Saturday, April 13.

4. OL Carson Hinzman

Offensive line might not be the sexiest position on a football field. However, Hinzman's name has been in the conversation to take over one of several positions on Ohio State's right side of the O-line.

How Hinzman performs on Saturday (in whichever positions he sees action) will shape the entire offensive line for the coming year. The importance of Hinzman's outing, objectively, is worthy of the top spot on this list.

3. RB Quinshon Judkins

Ohio State needed to add a spark to the running game after an up-and-down season in 2023. When healthy, TreVeyon Henderson was outstanding. But without him in the lineup, the offense struggled in a big way.

Enter former SEC rushing champ Quinshon Judkins, who transferred to Ohio State from Ole Miss this offseason. In two seasons at Ole Miss, Judkins had 1,567 yards and 16 touchdowns on 274 carries.

It will be interesting to see how carries are split between Henderson and Judkins in Chip Kelly's offense, and how he will matchup against a talented Ohio State defense on Saturday.

2. QB Will Howard

Fans were not the happiest with the performance of Ohio State's quarterbacks last season. Kyle McCord made a few poorly timed mistakes, while inexperience did in both Devin Brown and Lincoln Kienholz at the 2024 Cotton Bowl.

Howard has had four years of experience at the helm of a Division-1 offense, having amassed more than 5,000 yards and 48 touchdowns over four years with the Kansas State Wildcats. The most-likely option for Ohio State's 2024 starter, Howard will have to make a good impression on Saturday.

1. WR Jeremiah Smith

Smith is already well on his way to becoming a household name with Ohio State fans. The incoming-freshman has dazzled his coaches and teammates with his talents during practice, including an almost-impossible catch last week.

This weekend, Smith will debut his play-making abilities inside the Shoe, which is a much different environment than the Woody Hayes Athletic Center's practice fields. The length of Smith's highlight reel, and his level of comfort playing at Ohio Stadium, are going to be two big takeaways following Saturday's final whistle.
