Former Ohio State Buckeyes wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba didn't run the 40-yard dash at the NFL Scouting Combine, but he did at Wednesday's Pro Day.

On Smith-Njigba's lone 40-yard dash attempt, he was clocked at an official 4.48-second time, trailing only safety Tanner McAlister by 0.04 seconds for the fastest time of the day. The Rockwall, TX. native said he ran as quick as a 4.46-second 40-yard dash in training leading up to Pro Day.

"I didn't feel the need to run a second one," Smith-Njigba said after his workout. "I thought it was one and done, so to say."

After being limited to just three games and only hauling in five catches for 43 yards last season with a "nagging" hamstring injury, Smith-Njigba said he's "blessed I get to walk off this field healthy."

During his March 5 combine workout, Smith-Njigba put on a show en route to being named to the NFL.com All-Combine Team.

He set the bar when it came to quick-burst agility for all combine participants, running the fastest 20-yard shuttle and three-cone drill at 3.93 and 6.57 seconds, respectively.

The projected first-round pick set single-season program records for receptions with 95 and receiving yards with 1,606 in 2021.

Smith-Njigba said wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. was the best player he's ever seen at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center, but Harrison responded with an answer of his own.

"I think Jaxon needs to look in the mirror. The answer to his question's right there," Harrison replied. "Jaxon is a tremendous player, definitely one of the most naturally talented players that I've seen in my life. I can't even put into words the things he can do on the field."
