Winning streak snapped.

After picking up their fourth straight win scoring 15 runs against Mississippi State on Saturday, Oklahoma looked to sweep the weekend at the Frisco College Baseball Classic against Ohio State on Sunday.

But, while the Sooners (6-5) kept the bats hot with another big offensive day - the Buckeyes’ (5-6) bats ended up being the better ones in the matchup as OSU got the win 12-9.

Despite coming up on the wrong side of the scoreboard in the end, it was Oklahoma who jumped out to an early lead on Sunday.

The Sooners plated three runs in the first inning highlighted by catcher Easton Carmichael staying hot with an RBI single.

OU rode a 3-0 advantage into the third, but it was at that point that the Ohio State bats would come to life.

After a strong first two innings on the hill for Oklahoma starter Braxton Douthit, the Buckeyes got it going against the Sooners right-hander striking for five runs in the frame to jump in front by two.

Skip Johnson’s club, however, would respond just one inning later with shortstop Dakota Harris continuing his strong start to the season with a two-run double.

The game wouldn’t remain tied for long though, as Ohio State struck for three runs in the fifth on RBIs from Nick Erwin, Josh McAlister and Marcus Ernst.

The Buckeyes then doubled that lead two frames later, with Kade Kern blasting a three-run home run to make it 11-5 OSU.

But, as per usual, Oklahoma wasn’t about to go away quietly.

The Sooners immediately got two runs back in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI groundout from Carmichael and a run-scoring single from first baseman Rocco Garza-Gongora.

In the eighth, Oklahoma drew two runs closer with Carmichael getting one across on an infield single and Wallace Clark getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

The game headed to the ninth with the Buckeyes clinging to an 11-9 lead.

After OSU added a run to their lead on an RBI knock from Henry Kaczmar, the Sooners went to the plate needing three runs to stay alive.

The Sooners once again would make things interesting in their final turn at the dish, getting runners to first and second base with only one out for the 3-hole Bryce Madron and the 4-hole Harris.

But, OU wasn't able to cash in this time as Madron struck out looking and Harris flew out to right field to end the game.

While it was certainly a disappointing way to close the weekend, it still goes as a successful trip to Frisco for Oklahoma having taken two of three games before returning back home this week.

After one day off from game action, the Sooners will begin a two-game midweek series with UNLV starting on Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m. at L. Dale Mitchell Park.
