On Tuesday Morning, 4-star Washington (OK) tight end Nate Roberts decommitted from Notre Dame.

The talented 2025 recruit announced his commitment to the Fighting Irish on June 17, choosing Notre Dame over Oklahoma, Alabama and others. In recent weeks, however, a flurry of rumors and predictions have come in that have lead many to believe Brent Venables and company are heavily in the mix for Roberts.

Rated one of the top 61 players and top two tight ends in the nation, Roberts would be a massive boost for the Sooners' 2025 recruiting class and would immediately become their highest ranked commit in the cycle.

After OU 2025 quarterback commit Kevin Sperry moved to Oklahoma over the summer, Roberts began working out with Sperry and Checotah (OK) wideout Elijah Thomas, who is also committed to Oklahoma.

Sperry has reportedly been active on the recruiting trail, helping the Sooners' coaching staff recruit the 2025 class. It seems that the Carl Albert (OK) QB has been persuasive when working with Roberts, as the 6-foot-4, 230-pound rising junior is now predicted to commit to OU, which is less than 15 miles from Robert's home town of Washington, OK.

Following 4-star 2025 wide receiver Jaden Nickens' commitment, the Millwood (OK) standout said that he is also hoping to try and get Roberts on board.

"Out of my 2025 class I'm really going after Nate (Roberts) from Washington," Nickens said. "I really want Nate."

If tight ends coach Joe Jon Finley is able to secure a commitment from Roberts, it would be a massive addition to a 2025 skill position group that is already loaded with local talent.

Oklahoma already has commitments from Nickens, Thomas and Sperry, who are all 4-star prospects residing in the Sooner State. With 4-star 2025 Ennis (TX) wide receiver Gracen Harris also pledged to OU, Jeff Lebby and company could continue to build out an elite skill position room in the 2025 class with a commitment from Roberts.
