Oklahoma Adds 4-star LB to 2024 Recruiting Class

The Sooners got a boost in the upcoming recruiting cycle on Thursday afternoon, earning a commitment from one of the top players in Kansas.

Michael Boganowski, a 4-star linebacker from Junction City, KS, committed to Oklahoma on Thursday.

The impressive senior holds more than 15 offers, but cut his list to four in early October, ultimately choosing the Sooners over Kansas, Kansas State and Florida State. Big-time programs like USC, Tennessee and Washington also offered Boganowski, but were unable to pick up any real traction with the talented athlete.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 205 pounds, Boganowski is a versatile athlete who can play safety, linebacker and wide receiver, but is primarily being recruited to play on defense. According to Rivals, the Junction City (KS) standout is one of the top 17 linebackers in the nation and the No. 1 player in Kansas.

As a junior, the Blue Jays' star finished the 2022 season with a whopping 123 tackles and four interceptions. Boganowski's father, Mike Boganowski, played defensive line at New Mexico State for four years after earning All-State honors in high school.

Boganowski's commitment to OU comes after the hard-hitting defender took multiple trips to Norman over the summer, including a visit during the Sooners' "Party at the Palace" recruiting event in late July.

This specific event featured a large handful of Oklahoma commits in attendance, giving prospects like Boganowski a chance to form a bond with some of his future teammates like Bergin Kysar and Mykel Patterson-McDonald.

Boganowski joins 4-star linebacker James Nesta in OU's 2024 linebacker group, giving Ted Roof and Brent Venables two speedy playmakers who can run sideline-to-sideline.

With Boganowski on board, Oklahoma's coaching staff will begin to focus on their remaining targets in the 2024 recruiting class, as the upcoming cycle has a few talented prospects who are still uncommitted.
