Oklahoma Adds Another DB to 2024 Class

In this story:
Reggie Powers III, a 4-star safety from Centerville, OH, has committed to Oklahoma.
The talented defensive back originally pledged to Michigan State in June, but decommitted in September after former Spartans head coach Mel Tucker was informed by the school that he would be fired.
He announced his commitment on Saturday during Oklahoma's game at Kansas.

Powers III is rated the No. 154 overall player and the No. 11 safety in the 2024 class, according to 247Sports. The standout defender holds offers from more than 30 schools, including Ohio State, Duke, Louisville, UCLA, Iowa State and others.
The 6-foot-1 defensive back's commitment comes shortly after he visited Norman to see the Sooners take down the UCF Golden Knights 31-29.

247Sports National Recruiting Analyst Allen Trieu compared Powers III to Green Bay Packers and former Penn State safety Adrian Amos, saying that OU's newest commit is a "physically strong, well-built prospect".
Powers III helped lead Centerville (OH) to an 8-2 regular season record in 2023, racking up 67 tackles, eight tackles for loss, four pass breakups, two interceptions, one sack and one forced fumble.
Powers III is the seventh defensive back to commit to Oklahoma in the 2024 class, joining Mykel Patterson-McDonald, Eli Bowen, Michael Boganowski, Devon Jordan, Jeremiah Newcombe and Jaydan Hardy.
With seven prospects on board, Brandon Hall and Jay Valai have done a great job of adding to the "competitive depth" in the Sooners' defensive back room as the team heads into the SEC.
With Powers III now on board, OU has likely built out the majority of its 2024 recruiting class.
