The Sooners have been switching up its lineups of captains every week this year, and once again, it's a different group for Bedlam. Ethan Downs, Trace Ford, Gavin Freeman, Drake Stoops and Gentry Williams will be Oklahoma's captains when the team travels to Stillwater on Saturday.
All five players have one big thing in common. They all grew up Oklahomans and played high school football in Oklahoma. Brent Venables has always talked about how much this game should mean to the in-state players, and now he's elected five hometown captains for the cross-state rivalry game.
Hidden in the hometown narrative is the underlying fact that Trace Ford received the captain honor for the first time this season. For Ford, this is no ordinary game. He transferred to OU in January from Oklahoma State, making the rare rivalry switch. He's been a starter on the Oklahoma defense ever sense, and has a chance to make a big Bedlam impact on Saturday.
