Oklahoma Loses 2024 Juco DL Commit

After committing to the Sooners over the summer, one of OU's 2024 commits has backed off of his pledge.

In this story:

Danny Saili, a defensive lineman from Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, has decommitted from Oklahoma

Saili originally announced his commitment in mid-June, choosing the Sooners over Maryland and Towson. The massive junior college defensive lineman's commitment came around the same time that Phillip Paea and Da'Jon Terry announced that they would be coming to Norman for the 2023 season.

In August, the former OU commit posted a video that Brent Venables and company sent to all of their recruits in the 2024 class.

After committing, Saili was slated to play one more season at Hutchinson before joining the Oklahoma football team in 2024. The 6-foot-2 trench player played his prep football at Topeka (KS) High School before attending Hutch CC.

The d-lineman from Kansas will have two years of eligibility left wherever he ends up playing next season.

As the Sooners 2024 class continues to grow with a wealth of talented high school prospects, there is a chance that OU simply ran out of room to take Saili.

Oklahoma currently has 27 commits that are set to join the roster in 2024, not including the handful of walk-ons who have already announced that their commitment to the Sooners.

With players like Grant Brix, Reggie Powers III, Eddy Pierre-Louis and others still uncommitted, it would not be surprising to see OU add a few more prospects in the 2024 recruiting class.
