On Friday afternoon, 2025 Fort Bend Marshall wide receiver Ja'Kayden Ferguson announced his top five schools, with Oklahoma, Oregon, Houston, Arizona State and Mississippi making the cut.

Ferguson is a 3-star receiver from the Houston area who currently holds 13 offers. According to On3's recruiting database, the Buffaloes' standout is one of the top 300 players in the nation, rated as the No. 35 wideout in the country.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 175 pounds, Ferguson was offered by Emmett Jones and company on May 31 after visiting Norman two months prior.

The rising junior hauled in 18 passes for 311 yards and six touchdowns in 2022, according to MaxPreps. Ferguson's uncle, Robert Ferguson, played wideout at Texas A&M before being taken in the second round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers.

Ferguson is currently favored to land with the hometown Cougars, per On3's Recruiting Prediction Machine. Ferguson's Twitter profile indicates that he has clocked 10.9 seconds in the 100-meter dash and 4.49 seconds in the 40-yard-dash.

With his blend of height and speed, Ferguson is an ideal prospect for Jones, who seemingly values both of the aforementioned skills when evaluating pass catchers. Despite being in good standing with Ferguson, the Sooners' will have to beat out Oregon in order to land him.

Recently, OU was on the losing end of a big-time battle with the Ducks for talented 2024 defensive lineman Xadavien Sims. If Oklahoma is able to land Ferguson over Oregon, it might help soften the blow of losing out on the 4-star in-state defender.

The rising junior is one of multiple recruiting battles in which the Sooners and Ducks are engaged, with 2024 edge Wyatt Gilmore of Rodgers (MN) also including both programs in his top five.

The Sooners currently have two members of the 2025 class verbally committed: Rock Hill (TX) QB Kevin Sperry and Ennis (TX) wide receiver Gracen Harris
