Brent Venables and company have been busy on the recruiting trail to close out the month of May, handing out offers to six student athletes, five of whom are still in high school.

OU's offers from last week spanned three different recruiting cycles, with two 2024 prospects, three 2025s and one scholarship being offered to a collegiate transfer.

2025 Carl Albert (OK) LB Marcus James was the first player to get the good news last week, receiving an offer from Oklahoma on May 21. James is listed at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, currently rated as a 3-star recruit and the No. 10 player in Oklahoma according to On3.

As of May 28, the Sooners' in-state target holds offers from Tulsa, UTSA, Oklahoma State and OU. James is the fourth Carl Albert player to garner interest from Oklahoma, who has already offered 2025 athlete Trynae Washington, 2025 defensive back Trystan Haynes and 2024 running back Xavier Robinson

Two days after offering one local target, the Sooners offered OU legacy and Washington (OK) 2024 TE Cooper Alexander. Listed at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Alexander is the son of former Oklahoma tight end Stephen Alexander, who was an All-American at Chickasha (OK) High School before earning All-Big Eight and All-Big 12 honors with the Sooners.

Following his time at OU, Alexander was selected in the second round of the NFL Draft, playing nine seasons in the NFL with one Pro Bowl appearance. Now, Alexander's son Cooper has begun to make his own way, picking up an offer from his father's alma mater.

Alexander is a 3-star prospect according to 247Sports and On3, rated the No. 5 player in Oklahoma in the 2024 class. The defending 2A state champion holds 13 offers, but is heavily projected to land with the Sooners per On3's Industry Ranking.

Following Alexander, OU offered consensus 3-star LB Easton Baker of Stansbury High School in Tooele, UT. Baker was formerly committed to BYU before backing off his pledge on May 1.

Baker is slated to visit Norman in June for the ChampU BBQ recruiting event, where he will be surrounded by fellow Oklahoma targets. Baker currently holds nine offers, with OU his projected landing spot, according to Rivals.

The hard-hitting defender's commitment date is set for July 1, giving the Sooners a chance to make a good impression on Baker.

OU was also recruiting in SEC territory last week, extending an offer to 2025 Saraland (AL) DL Antonio Coleman. The talented trench player is ranked No. 70 in the nation by 247Sports, slotted as the No. 7 defensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class.

The rising junior has already received over 10 scholarship offers, including one from in-state powerhouse Alabama. Listed at 6-foot-2 and 285 pounds already, Coleman would be a great fit on the interior for Oklahoma defensive tackles coach Todd Bates

On May 27, the Sooners offered 2025 Maury (VA) DB Kendall Daniels Jr. to close out their high school offer list for the week. Daniels is a 4-star recruit, according to ESPN and 247Sports, coming in as the No. 178 player in the 2025 cycle.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 187 pounds, Daniels is already racking up an impressive offer sheet, receiving interest from Florida, Michigan, Penn State, Notre Dame and OU, among others.

The Sooners also offered Utah State transfer defensive lineman Phillip Paea this week, aiming to bolster the team's depth along the defensive line. Paea made three starts for the Aggies last year before being sidelined for the remainder of the season with an injury.

Prior to his two seasons at Utah State, Paea played at the University of Michigan. In high school, the Berrien Springs, MI, native was a 3-star recruit and one of the top 10 players in Michigan, per 247Sports.
