Poll Report: Oklahoma Climbs After Dominant Display in Tulsa

Oklahoma moved up in both the AP Poll and the USA Today Coaches Poll after defeating the Tulsa Golden Hurricane 66-17.

Oklahoma closed its non-conference slate in style on Saturday.

The Sooners (3-0) dismantled the Tulsa Golden Hurricane (1-2) at H.A. Chapman Stadium, hammering the hosts 66-17.

Entering the weekend, OU’s wins over Arkansas State and SMU had the Sooners ranked at No. 19 in the AP Poll.

After Saturday’s display, the Sooners moved up three spots to No. 16.

The Sooners jumped Colorado, who beat Colorado State in overtime, as well as Tennesse and Kansas State as both the Volunteers and Wildcats lost to unranked opposition.

Oklahoma moved up in the USA Today Coaches Poll as well. OU moved up to 14th after checking in at No. 16 last week.

Brent Venables’ team will have another chance to move up this weekend.

Just like last year, the Sooners were perfect through the non-conference slate. But OU will look to open 1-0 in conference play for the first time under Venables as Cincinnati hosts their first ever Big 12 matchup.

Kickoff is scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, and the game will be broadcast on Fox.
