In two years with the Sooners, Harmon made 17 appearances and two starts, playing primarily as a third safety for Brent Venables’ defense last year.
He totaled 22 tackles at Oklahoma.
Rated a 4-star recruit by both 247Sports and Rivals out of high school, Harmon signed with the Sooners in the 2021 recruiting class.
He tied his career-high in tackles last season against TCU, but his day was cut short due to a scary injury that saw him taken off the field in a stretcher.
Resilient, Harmon was able to work his way back onto the field and into the rotation for the OU defense in the home stretch of the season, posting a tackle in each of Oklahoma’s final three regular season games against West Virginia, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech.
In late March, safeties coach Brandon Hall seemed to believe Harmon was catching on.
"He’s like anybody else. I think he’s staring to settle in a little bit," Hall said. "He’s obviously very talented and very athletic, explosive. He’s got great ball skills, as everyone knows. The more snaps the he plays, the more time that he’s, so to speak, not thinking, the more you’ll see that talent show."
Harmon played 291 snaps last season, according to Pro Football Focus, including 163 on defense. He posted a PFF grade of 51.8.
Harmon is the second member of the Sooner secondary to enter the portal in the past two days, as Jamarrien Burt announced his decision to transfer on Thursday.
He’s also the seventh OU defensive back overall to leave via the transfer portal since December.
The post-spring transfer portal window extends until April 30, where players must have all paperwork filed to enter the portal by that deadline to transfer and maintain immediate eligibility.
Teams may still add players after the April 30 deadline, and transfer portal entrants may still commit to new schools after April 30.
