Sooners in the NFL: Week Eight

Oklahoma's NFL stars were shining during week eight action across the league.

It was a big day in the big leagues for Oklahoma’s former stars.

For starters, Ceedee Lamb notched career-high’s across the board. He was unbelievable in every aspect of the game, helping Dallas cruise to a 43-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams. You can read about his full performance with highlights included here.

Jalen Hurts was able to bounce back in a big way on Sunday, and did it almost exclusively through the air. The Eagles are now 7-1 and Hurts is simply rolling. The former Oklahoma quarterback threw for 319 yards on 29-of-38 passing and four touchdowns. He had zero interceptions and led Philadelphia to a shootout win over Washington 38-31. At 68.4% throughout the season, this is the most accurate Hurts has been during his football career, and the 267.5 yards per game through the air would also be a career-best.

Mark Andrews and Hollywood Brown squared off against one another in Arizona, and each former Sooner scored a touchdown. Andrews finished with four catches for 40 yards and a score, while Brown hauled in six passes for 33 yards and a score.

Joe Mixon had his best game of the season for the Bengals, totaling 16 carries for 87 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 5.4 yards per carry, while catching three passes for 23 yards.

It wasn’t on Sunday, but Baker Mayfield and the Buccaneers fell for the third straight week on Thursday night football. Mayfield finished the game 25-of-42 for 237 yards and two touchdowns. He threw a perfect hail mary pass at the end of the game, but Chris Godwin couldn’t seem to locate it in the air.
