Sunday Offering: Oklahoma Lands Commitment in 2025 Recruiting Class, in the Mix for Several Other Prospects

The Sooners had a big week on the recruiting trail, landing one of the top players in Arkansas and remaining in contention for a handful of other recruits.

After a busy stretch on the recruiting trail for Oklahoma last week, the previous seven days have also included plenty of excitement for Brent Venables and company.

Following the Sooners' getting their 10th pledge of the 2025 cycle from running back Tory Blaylock, OU added another prospect to the upcoming class this week.

Additionally, Oklahoma landed in the top schools lists for five more prospects and extended four more scholarship offers.

Commitment

On Saturday afternoon, the Sooners landed 4-star defensive back Marcus Wimberly from Bauxite, AR.

Wimberly is the first player from the Natural State to commit to OU since Stacey Wilkins in the 2019 recruiting class.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, Wimberly is the 11th member of Oklahoma's 2025 recruiting class, joining Lee's Summit North defensive lineman Ka'Mori Moore, Wagoner (OK) edge rusher Alexander Shieldnight and Carl Albert (OK) linebacker Marcus James on the defensive side of the ball.

Rated the No. 9 safety prospect in the nation, according to Rivals, Wimberly is a big addition to Brandon Hall's safety room after the position coach helped bring in Reggie Powers III, Michael Boganowski and Mykel Patterson-McDonald in the 2024 class.

Top Schools

The Sooners also made the top schools list for three 2025 prospects and two 2026 prospects this week.

On Monday, 5-star offensive lineman Michael Fasusi included Oklahoma in his top seven schools alongside USC, Oregon, Texas A&M, Missouri, Georgia and Texas.

Rated the No. 11 overall player and No. 3 offensive tackle in the nation, according to Rivals, Fasusi would be a huge addition for Bill Bedenbaugh and company in the upcoming cycle.

On the same day Fasusi announced his Top 7, 4-star defensive lineman Trent Wilson announced his top four schools.

In addition to Oklahoma, Wilson included Penn State, Texas A&M and Ohio State in his final list. Hailing from Upper Marlboro, MD, Wilson is rated the No. 96 overall player and No. 9 defensive lineman in the nation, according to On3.

Wilson, who is listed at 6-foot-3 and 270 pounds, is set to announce his commitment on Wednesday, the same day as 4-star Frisco Emerson (TX) defensive back Maliek Hawkins. Both of the standout 2025 prospects are expected to pick the Sooners.

On Wednesday, 4-star linebacker Jaedon Harmon announced his top 10 schools, including OU, Alabama, Florida State, LSU, Ohio State, Texas, Clemson, Auburn, Tennessee and Mississippi in his list.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 215 pounds, the Rome, GA, product is rated the No. 172 overall player and No. 13 linebacker in the 2025 recruiting class, per Rivals.

In the 2026 class, 4-star cornerback Dorian Barney announced his Top 12 on Wednesday.

The Peachtree Ridge (GA) standout included Oklahoma, Alabama, Ohio State, LSU, Florida State, Clemson, Georgia, Colorado, Tennessee, South Carolina, USC and Notre Dame in his list.

Listed at 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, Barney is rated the No. 33 overall player and No. 5 corner in the 2026 cycle, according to 247Sports.

Finally, 4-star tight end Kendre Harrison announced his top 15 schools on Friday evening.

The 6-foot-7, 243-pound athlete from Reidsville, NC, included Oklahoma, Mississippi, Notre Dame, USC, North Carolina, Florida State, Tennessee, Ohio State, LSU, Auburn, Oregon, Alabama and Georgia in his list.

A standout on the basketball court, Harrison is rated the No. 2 overall prospect and No. 1 tight end in the 2026 class, according to 247Sports.

Offers extended

In addition to making the cut for five talented prospects, the Sooners also extended scholarship offers to four high school prospects over the past week.

On Tuesday, 4-star offensive lineman Logan Powell of Scottsdale, AZ, picked up an offer from Bedenbaugh and company after visiting Norman for spring practice.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 285 pounds, Powell is rated the No. 229 overall prospect and No. 24 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 recruiting class, per 247Sports.

The next day, Cass (GA) offensive lineman Bear McWhorter received an offer from Oklahoma.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds, McWhorter is a 3-star recruit in the 2026 class and is committed to Arkansas.

On Saturday, OU offered St. Louis University High School (MO) standout defensive back Keenan Harris. Listed at 6-foot-1 and 200 pounds, Harris is rated the No. 202 overall prospect and No. 26 safety in the 2026 recruiting class.

Later that day, the Sooners extended an offer to 2027 Lakeview Centennial (TX) defensive back Montre Jackson.

As a freshman, Jackson has already recorded an impressive 10.64 in the 100-meter dash and is listed at 6-foot-1. The Garland, TX, product also holds offers from Baylor, Texas Tech, UTSA and SMU.
