Sunday Offering: Oklahoma in Contention for Handful of 2025 Prospects

The Sooners are in the mix for four talented junior prospects after the group announced their top schools over the past week.

Brent Venables and company have stayed busy on the recruiting trail over the offseason, continuing to make headway in the 2025 recruiting class.

Recently, the Sooners learned that they were in contention for multiple talented junior prospects who could add to what is already a solid group in the upcoming cycle.

So far, OU has 10 commits in the 2025 class with 4-star offensive lineman Ryan Fodje of Bridgeland (TX) being the most recent addition.

Carl Albert (OK) trio Kevin Sperry, Marcus James and Trynae Washington, Melissa (TX) offensive lineman Owen Hollenbeck, Wagoner (OK) edge rusher Alexander Shieldnight, Douglass (OK) wide receiver Jaden Nickens, Checotah (OK) wideout Elijah Thomas, Ennis (TX) pass catcher Gracen Harris and Lee's Summit North (MO) defensive lineman Ka'Mori Moore make up the rest of the Sooners' upcoming group.

On Feb. 11, 4-star wide receiver Travis Smith announced his top eight schools, with Oklahoma, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, Colorado, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Mississippi making the cut.

Listed at 6-foot-4 and 195 pounds, the Atlanta Westlake (GA) standout is rated the No. 74 overall player and No. 8 wide receiver in the 2025 class, according to On3.

Smith would add to an incredible wide receiver group that boasts a trio of 4-star playmakers. The Lions' standout picked up an offer from the Sooners in late January.

Three days after Smith announced his top eight, 4-star edge rusher Darren Ikinnagbon included OU in his top eight schools alongside Georgia, Notre Dame, Rutgers, Duke, Tennessee, Ohio State and Penn State.

Hailing from Hillside, NJ, Ikinnagbon is rated the No. 240 overall player and the No. 24 edge rusher in the 2025 recruiting cycle, according to 247Sports. Listed at 6-foot-5 and 240 pounds, the Comets' standout would be a solid addition to play alongside Shieldnight and Moore on the defensive line.

Sunday, two players from the Lone Star State announced their top schools.

First, 4-star Prosper (TX) offensive lineman Connor Carty announced his top 12, with LSU, Oregon, Texas A&M, Texas, TCU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Missouri, USC, Texas Tech, Arkansas and Penn State staying in the mix.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 290 pounds, Carty is rated the No. 213 overall prospect and No. 8 interior offensive lineman in the 2025 class, per Rivals.

Carty is one of multiple Prosper offensive lineman that Bill Bedenbaugh and company are recruiting, as Eagles' sophomore tackle Zaden Krempin received an offer from the Sooners recently and is set to visit Norman in March.

Finally, Shadow Creek (TX) cornerback Cobey Sellers announced his top six on Sunday, with Oklahoma, LSU, Georgia, Texas A&M, Texas and Oregon making the cut.

Sellers visited Norman in January for the Sooners' Junior Day event and has been predicted to choose OU by On3 and Rivals.

Listed at 5-foot-11 and 175 pounds, the standout defensive back is rated the No. 124 overall player and No. 17 corner in the upcoming cycle.

In addition to the four prospects who included Oklahoma in their top schools, Venables and company also offered five high school recruits this week.

In the 2025 class, St. Francis (CA) offensive lineman Atamai Matau picked up and offer from Bedenbaugh and company on Friday.

Listed at 6-foot-5 and 315 pounds, the fast-rising trench player has already picked up offers from Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State and many others.

In the 2026 class, the Sooners offered St. Paul's Episcopal (AL) linebacker Anthony Jones, Mayde Creek (TX) linebacker Kosi Okpala and Glassboro (NJ) athlete Amari Sabb

Jones, who is listed at 6-foot-4 and 230 pounds, is rated the No. 6 overall player and the No. 1 linebacker in the country according to 247Sports. Sabb is the younger brother of former Michigan safety Keon Sabb, who entered the transfer portal recently and has heard from Oklahoma.

In the 2027 class, OU offered the youngest of the Sabb brothers, 6-foot-1 athlete Xavier Sabb. Despite being just a freshman, Sabb has already received offers from Georgia, Michigan, Oregon, Mississippi, Penn State and others.
