OU Softball: Oklahoma Breezes Past Louisville in Ohio

Oklahoma got off to a fast start at the Miami (OH) Tournament.
The top-ranked Sooners put up seven runs in the first inning to help blow past the Louisville Cardinals.
After the dust settles, OU beat Louisville 10-1 in five innings at Miami Softball Stadium in Oxford, OH, on Saturday.
OU extended its winning streak to 30 games, moving to 38-1 on the year, and Louisville fell to 26-14.
Jayda Coleman led the Sooners’ explosive first inning off by laying down a bunt for a single.
Two batters later, Haley Lee hammered a home run to put OU up 2-0.

Back-to-back-to-back singles from Alyssa Brito, Kinzie Hansen and Grace Lyons then loaded the bases up for Alynah Torres, who drew a walk to extend the lead to 3-0.
Cydney Sanders then grounded into a fielder’s choice, and the Louisville defense opted to throw out Hanse, the lead runner, at home, but Rylie Boone’s two-out single plated Lyons and Torres and put Oklahoma ahead 5-0.
Coleman returned and this time she swung the bat, hammering a double off the wall, clearing the bases and capping off the seven-run barrage.
Oklahoma’s shutout streak ended in the second inning.
Louisville immediately put runners on second and third after Alex Storako surrendered a walk and a double to start the frame.
The Sooner right-hander induced a ground ball, but the defense was unable to fire the ball home and had to settle for making the out at first base.
It was the first run Oklahoma had surrendered in four games, but Storako responded to limit the damage to the single run and get out of the inning.
Storako’s offense immediately gave her more runs to work with.
Hansen cashed in on Brito’s leadoff double with a single up the middle to push the lead to 8-1.
Two batters later, Sanders smashed a pitch well beyond the wall in straightaway center, putting the Sooners up 10-1. The laser was Sanders’ second home run of the year.

Deal cruised to close out the game.
