OU Softball: Two Oklahoma Stars Selected in Athletes Unlimited Draft

A pair of Oklahoma softball stars were once again drafted on Monday night.
Pitcher Alex Storako and utility player Haley Lee were two of the 14 collegiate softball players taken in the Athletes Unlimited draft.
Storako was taken with the ninth-overall pick, and Lee was selected with pick No. 12 on Monday.

Athletes Unlimited is a professional softball league that utilizes a fantasy softball-style approach, drafting new teams from the same player pool for each set of games. Players earn individual points for virtually every play across a game, and at the end of the season one player is crowned the champion.
Both Storako and Lee were previously selected by the Oklahoma City Spark of Women’s Professional Fastpitch, another professional softball league operating at the end of the college season.
Once Storako and Lee’s collegiate eligibility expires at the end of the 2023 season, they will have the option to sign with either Athletes Unlimited or the Spark to continue their careers professionally.
Former Sooners Caleigh Clifton, Nicole Rangel-Mendes, Sydney Romero and Shannon Saile are all slated to participate in the 2023 Athletes Unlimited season.
A pair of super senior transfers, both Storako and Lee have made their mark in Norman this season.
Storako currently ranks third nationally in ERA, as her season mark of .75 trails only teammate Nicole May and Stanford pitcher NiJaree Canady this season.
A decorated right-hander at Michigan, Storako has posted a perfect 16-0 record in 2023 across 22 total appearances, striking out 101 batters while issuing only 13 walks in 90 2/3 innings of work.
Storako fired career strikeout No. 1,000 this past weekend against Oklahoma State as she’s been a key piece of Oklahoma’s pitching staff this season.
Lee has been a powerful addition to OU’s lineup, blasting 12 home runs in 2023 which is second on the team, trailing only Jayda Coleman and Alyssa Brito’s 13 bombs.
Chipping in as a designated player and catcher, Lee is hitting .364 this year while also posting a .721 slugging percentage.
Lee was a USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Top 25 finalist in both 2021 and 2022, and she belted 25 home runs at Texas A&M in 2021, setting a new single-season program record.
Before making any decisions about life after Oklahoma, both Storako and Lee have two more chances to add hardware to their trophy cabinet.
The Sooners will take the field in the Big 12 Tournament this weekend before OU looks to defend its back-to-back National Championships in the NCAA Tournament later this month.
