With the 2023 college football season in the rearview mirror, programs now have their eyes set on the 2024 college football season as they're preparing for spring football.

For the Cowboys, the 2024 college football season hoists a big opportunity as they're returning a large portion of starters to the program, allowing them to play with a familiar, veteran roster.

The main storyline of the season will be Ollie Gordon and the Cowboys' offense. If he can put up a similar season while producing through the first three games, he's capable of making a run at the Heisman trophy.

Defensively, Bryan Nardo and his 3-3-5 scheme will be in its second season with players more familiar with the scheme and style of defense. The team should be fully prepared heading into its non-conference schedule, which proved to not be the case last season.

Here is Oklahoma State's full 2024 college football schedule.

South Dakota State (Home), Aug. 31, 2024

Arkansas (Home), Sept. 7, 2024

Tulsa (Away), Sept. 14, 2024

Utah (Home), Sept. 21, 2024

Kansas State (Away), Sept. 28, 2024

West Virginia (Home), Oct. 5, 2024

BYE

BYU (Away), Oct. 19, 2024

Baylor (Away), Oct. 26, 2024

Arizona State (Home), Nov. 2, 2024

TCU (Away), Nov. 9, 2024

BYE

Texas Tech (Home)

Colorado (Away)

The Cowboys start their season with South Dakota State, who has won two straight FCS National Championships and went 15-0 just a season ago. Oklahoma State has the opportunity to end their winning streak to open up their season.

With Arkansas and Tulsa as their two other non-conference games, the Cowboys have a good opportunity to start the season 3-0, though the Razorbacks will prove to be a tough challenge.

Opening the Big 12 schedule with Utah and Kansas State in back-to-back games will be tough, but things lighten up after that. Having a bye week just before two straight road games against BYU and Baylor will prove to be beneficial.

To close the season against Deion Sanders and Colorado, the Cowboys could have a rough bout at the end of the season, especially following matchups against TCU and Texas Tech.

The final stretch of the Big 12 schedule will show a lot about Oklahoma State and where they are as a program in the current state of the conference.
