Mike Boynton and Co. Still Appear to be in Great Shape with 2020 Class

Even with the decommitment of four-star point guard Davonte Davis, Oklahoma State appears to be in great shape with the 2020 class

STIILWATER -- It was exactly one week ago today that Oklahoma State lost the commitment of four-star point guard Davonte Davis. In most of the recruiting pieces I've written over the past eight months or so, I've always written about how unfair it was that Davis kind of got lost in the shuffle of all the news and articles about Cade Cunningham and Bryce Thompson.

So, when Davis came out with and decommitted, it kind of seemed like it came out of nowhere for some people. But with the decommitment, it also seemed like the Pokes were back at square one with the 2020 class. I said it last week and I'll say it again: there's no way that's the case.

Mike Boynton and Co. are still in the mix to land two of the best players in the 2020 class in Bryce Thompson and Cade Cunningham, both top-20 and five star players in the class.

There's also four-star guard Rondel Walker out of Putnam City West. I've said from the beginning of his recruiting cycle that Walker is going to wind up at Oklahoma State and while there's nothing set in stone, it appears to be the case. Walker cancelled a trip to Kansas State early in September to come to Stillwater and he was back in Stillwater two weeks later when the Pokes faced Kansas State on the gridiron.

There's also four-star combo forward J.T. Thor out of Norcross, GA. Thor was in Stillwater on his official visit the same weekend as Walker and Cade Cunningham; all three of which I have said will most likely end up in Stillwater. Obviously, nothing is guaranteed, but I believe the Pokes have a better chance than most schools.

I'm also not the only one that thinks that. In an article put out yesterday by Rivals, they too believe that trio has a great chance of ending up in orange and black.

"At Oklahoma State, Cowboys nation is on pins and needles as coveted target Cade Cunningham -- who I still believe they will land -- finishes up his visits."

In the meantime, Mike Boynton and his staff look to be in good shape with a pair of their other high-end targets, four-star power forward J.T. Thor and four-star combo guard Rondel Walker. Thor is an athlete with upside as a mobile combo forward while Walker is the type of guy who could start multiple years at the one or two for a Big 12 program."

Both Walker and Thor's commitment decisions should be coming soon, as should Cade Cunningham's.
