OSU Football's Updated 2024 Projected Win Total

The Cowboys, once again, have a very obtainable projected win total.

Last season, Oklahoma State was underrated heading into the season, with some sports books setting the Cowboys' projected win total line at 6.5 games. Considering the continual consistent success from the Cowboys in the last decade-plus, the line didn't make a ton of sense, even with their rocky 2022 season.

Of course, the Cowboys finished last season with a 10-4 record and an appearance in the Big 12 title game. With that, one would assume that the same program would be able to follow suit with a solid season again. That is, of course, unless something catastrophic happened with the team -- whether it be a plethora of outgoing transfers or head coaching changes.

Oklahoma State dealt with neither of those. Mike Gundy remains one of the most consistent coaches across the sport, and the program is returning its entering starting offense and a bulk of the starting defense.

Still, the Cowboys can't get any respect from the oddsmakers. FanDuel set Oklahoma State's over/under for their win total at 7.5 games, which would leave them around mid-table in the Big 12. Considering how their last season went, that just doesn't seem fair.

Year after year, it seems the Cowboys are slightly underrated, and then they slightly exceed expectations just for the same thing to continue to happen. For sports bettors, this line should feel like easy money. Again, the team is returning much of its 10-win team from a season ago, and the team should have a better understanding of how to start the season.

On top of the Cowboys being able to return such a solid squad, the reigning Big 12 champions in Texas and a blue blood in Oklahoma are both moving to the SEC, clearing the way for the top of the conference to be taken over by new programs.

It's hard to imagine the Cowboys don't crush their projected win total in a season that could see them in competition to make the title game late in the season.
