Preseason Media All-Big 12 Announced, Features Four Cowboys
STILLWATER -- The preseason awards, watch lists and All-Conference teams continues as the Big 12 announced the preseason media All-Big 12 team Thursday afternoon. The list features four Cowboys, three offensive players and one defensive, as well as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year.
We'll start off with probably the most-obvious choice of the list, running back Chuba Hubbard. Hubbard is one of just four unanimous picks on the list, as well as earning preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Hubbard was also named to the Doak Walker Award preseason watch list earlier this week.
Hubbard finished the 2019 season as one of the best players in the country. He earned first-team All-Big 12 honors, as well as being named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year by the coaches and the Associated Press. On the season, he rushed for 2,094 yards and 21 touchdowns.
Wide receiver Tylan Wallace, who was named to the preseason Biletnikoff Award watch list Thursday morning, was also one of the four unanimous picks to make the list.
Wallace, who played in only eight games due to injury, was on pace for a great season. He finished the year with 903 yards and eight touchdowns and despite playing in only eight games, still earned second-team All-Big 12 status due to his performance.
The third offensive Cowboy to make the list is offensive lineman Teven Jenkins, who was a third-team All-Big 12 selection following the 2019 season. As for Hubbard and Wallace, they were both a first-team and second-team All-Big 12 selection this past season respectively.
As for the defensive selection for the Cowboys, that honor goes to safety Kolby Harvell-Peel, who was named to the Bednarik Award preseason watch list earlier this week.
Harvell-Peel finished the 2019 season with 71 tackles, five interceptions, 13 pass break ups, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, one sack, three tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry. For his efforts, he was named first-team All-Big 12.
