Two Cowboys Earned Big 12 Honors After Bedlam Win

The Cowboys found success on both sides of the field as they routed Oklahoma one last time in Bedlam.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys haven't slowed down since starting their winning streak five games ago. Now, they're coming off a huge 27-24 win over the No. 9 ranked Oklahoma Sooners.

After the win, the Cowboys leaped the Sooners in the AP Poll, and will likely get close to doing so on Tuesday in the College Football Playoff rankings. The recognition is coming to Stillwater for the team on the national scale, but the player awards keep rolling, too.

Of course, Ollie Gordon has been dominating the awards the past few weeks, and nothing has changed there. For the fourth week in a row, he's the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week.

He carried the ball 33 times for 137 yards, an average of 4.2 yards per carry. He found the end zone twice, too. Since becoming RB1, this is Gordon's lowest yards per carry. Oklahoma's defensive game plan was to stop Gordon, yet he still had an amazing showing, which led to him winning the award for the fourth straight week.

Gordon and the offensive line absolutely transformed the Cowboys offense, which has tremendously helped Alan Bowman and the passing game, which was just as impressive in the Bedlam matchup.

That wasn't the only Big 12 honor for a Cowboy this past week, though.

Oklahoma State linebacker Xavier Benson was the Big 12 Defensive Players of the Week. He finished the game with seven total tackles, three tackles for loss and a sack.

The Cowboys' defense did an incredible job of ensuring an offensive capable of stretching the field vertically wasn't able to put together plenty of points. While the defense did bend at times, it didn't break and pulled through in some big moments.

While two Cowboys got Big 12 honors, the team as a whole is now the in driver's seat to make the Big 12 Championship game, as they've got three Big 12 newcomers to close out their schedule.
