No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks Cruise to Friday Night Win Over Ole Miss Rebels

The Ole Miss Rebels lost their third straight series on Friday night, despite an impressive performance from third baseman Andrew Fischer.

The Ole Miss Rebels fell 8-3 in game two of their weekend series versus the No. 1 Arkansas Razorbacks on Friday night and have now lost their third straight SEC series. Ole Miss has not picked up a conference victory since March 23, and that streak could continue if the Rebels are unable to avoid a sweep by Arkansas this weekend.

The Rebels got on the board fast in the top of the first inning thanks to a solo shot into left field from third baseman Andrew Fischer, but the lead was short-lived, as the Razorbacks scored four runs in the bottom half to take the lead. Fischer was doing everything in his power to keep Ole Miss in this game, as he mashed his 13th home run of the season in the top of the third to cut down Arkansas’ lead to one run.

The rest of the Ole Miss lineup struggled to get anything going at the plate, however, while the Razorbacks piled on four more runs to seal the series. Fischer's night ended with two hits, two home runs, and three RBIs in four at-bats.

Fischer’s roommate, sophomore LHP Liam Doyle, started on the mound for the Rebels on Friday night and allowed five runs on four hits while walking four batters in his ninth appearance of 2024.

Doyle was relieved by a combination of three Ole Miss relievers: Mitch Murrell (2.1 IP), Wes Mendes (1.0 IP), and Mason Morris (1.1 IP). In total, the Rebels’ bullpen allowed three runs and four walks.

Ole Miss is set to take on Arkansas in game three of their weekend series on Saturday afternoon, and the Rebels will be playing to avoid their second-straight sweep. First pitch is set for 2 p.m. CT in Fayetteville and the game will be televised on SEC Network.
