QUOTES: What Mike Bianco Said Entering Day 3 of Cambria College Classic

In this story:
MINNEAPOLIS — After knocking off the Minnesota Golden Gophers on Saturday night, the No. 4 Ole Miss Rebels look to cap off a perfect weekend on Sunday when they face the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Cambria College Classic.
Ole Miss saw a big night from first baseman Anthony Calarco on Saturday, highlighted by five RBIs via the Northwestern transfer. It was an up-and-down outing for Rebels starting pitcher Grayson Saunier who struck out 11 batters but departed the game with a 5-4 deficit against the winless Gophers.
The Rebels, however, were able to push across runs in the latter innings to secure the win, including a two-run home run by Ethan Lege in the ninth.
"I'm really proud of how we competed," Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco said after Saturday's game. "We challenged the guys in the pregame meeting: don't sleepwalk through this game. We can't hide their record, but just a couple days ago, they had five hitters hitting above .300. To our guys' credit, I thought they competed their tails off."
The newcomers on Bianco's team like the aforementioned Calarco and Lege have made big impacts on the young 2023 season. Centerfielder Ethan Groff has also become one of the most consistent bats in top the lineup here in early March.
"Terrific day by Anthony," Bianco said. "He was really seeing the ball well. All those guys continue to swing a hot bat. I thought 1-through-9, we swung it well tonight."
Now, Ole Miss turns its attention to a Nebraska team that is also 2-0 in this weekend's Cambria College Classic. The Rebels and Cornhuskers will begin battle at 1:30 p.m. CT on Sunday, and, like all games this weekend, can be seen on Big Ten Network+.
