WATCH: Ole Miss Introduces Chris Beard As New Men's Basketball Coach

The Ole Miss Rebels introduced new head basketball coach Chris Beard on Wednesday night

The Ole Miss Rebels introduced new men's basketball head coach Chris Beard on Tuesday night, with the former Texas Longhorn becoming the 23rd coach in school history.

Beard was welcomed by an excited crowd of Ole Miss faithful, eager to see their new coach address the fan base for the first time.

You can watch the full introduction below:

Following the introduction to the fan base, Beard also met with the media, where he answered questions regarding his exit from the Longhorns, his plan for the Ole Miss program, and more.

That press conference can be viewed here:

Beard comes to the Rebels after a tumultuous ending to his tenure with the Longhorns and was fired in January after being charged with felony strangulation/suffocation-family violence.

However, those charges were later dropped, and the case was dismissed by the Travis Country Sherriff's department, clearing the way for Beard to make a return to coaching.

As far as coaching stops are concerned, Beard has plenty of impressive marks to add to his resume.

His first collegiate head coaching job came with Fort Scott Community College in Kansas beginning in 1999. He also had a stop in the JUCO ranks with Seminole State Junior College in Oklahoma.

From 2001-11, Beard served as the associate head coach for the Texas Tech Red Raiders, and he was later head coach in Lubbock from 2016-21. He then transitioned to Austin where he was the coach of the Longhorns until earlier this year.

In the NCAA Tournament, Beard has posted a 10-4 record as a coach, and he led Texas Tech to a Final Four appearance in 2019.

The Red Raiders would go on to lose in the national championship game to the Virginia Cavaliers.
