Ole Miss Rebels quarterback commit Demond Williams Jr. has taken another step in his development.

Williams participated in the Oxford Regional of the Elite 11 May 7 and was named a finalist in the "nation's premier quarterback competition" Tuesday.

"I think I did pretty good," Williams told The Grove Report after his Elite 11 workout May 7. "I was on top of all my throws, and it was spinning for the most part. I thought I came out and did my thing."

The four-star and a top-15 quarterback in the class of 2024 has the play style to fit head coach Lane Kiffin's explosive offensive system.

“Ole Miss was always in constant communication with me and I feel that it’s a great fit for my play style,” Williams told 247Sports. “I’m super excited with how they run their offense and how my style fits right into it. It was extremely important for me to commit early because I feel that building a great class is priority No. 1 to try and get the best guys to be built around this team."

Despite being undersized at 5-11 and 180 pounds, he still has an "electric" aspect to his game, 247Sports' Blair Angulo said.

"Accurate down-field passer with great feel for the deep ball. Consistent and on time with intermediate attempts," Angulo wrote. "Flashes elusiveness and improvisation when the pocket collapses. Dangerous on the run, but is a definite pass-first prospect. Top-flight competitor and leader with necessary intangibles. Could continue to refine mechanics and shorten delivery."

Williams completed 63.6 percent of his passes for 1,814 yards and 16 touchdowns to four interceptions in nine games his freshman season in 2020. He ran for 239 yards and three scores.

In 2022, the Basha High School product had an incredible 23-1 touchdown-to-interception ratio with 2,339 yards through the air and 764 on the ground.

Williams plans to take an official visit to Oxford next season when the Ole Miss plays LSU Sept. 30 after taking an unofficial visit last season when the Rebels beat Auburn 48-34 Oct. 15, 2022.

“I could really see myself playing there,” Williams told 247Sports after his unofficial visit. “Playing in the SEC isn’t the biggest factor, but it has been a big thing for me. It’s the best players going up against the best players in the best stadiums with the best fans, so it’s definitely really appealing.”

Since his commitment to Ole Miss Dec. 30, 2022, he has received three new offers from Purdue, Penn State and Auburn.
