Preview, How To Watch: Ole Miss Rebels Host Inaugural 'Grove Bowl Games'

The Ole Miss Rebels are hosting a new-look spring game on Saturday at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

The Ole Miss Rebels are taking an inventive approach to their spring game this offseason, replacing the traditional scrimmage format with the "Grove Bowl Games."

The rosters for the red and blue teams in Saturday's event can be found here, and the Rebels also released the planned format for the event earlier this weekend, a list that can be found below.
Each contest on Saturday is worth a certain number of points that will help each team in their pursuit for an overall win in the new-look event.

The Grove Bowl Games are set to begin at 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, and they will be televised on SEC Network+. The information below is via a press release from Ole Miss Athletics.

The Grove Bowl Games will begin with a dunk contest that features two participants for each team. The teams will receive seven points for making it to the finals and seven extra points for the winner, and the event is worth a total of 21 points.

This will be followed by the first quarter of 7-on-7 drills. All four quarters of this contest will feature traditional football scoring: touchdowns worth six points followed by a PAT from the five-yard (one point) or 10-yard line (two points).

Tug-of-War will follow the first 7-on-7 quarter, featuring five total rounds of a 4v4 event, including a total of 20 participants from each team. Each round won in this event will be worth four points.

The second quarter of 7-on-7 drills will follow, and then the Hot Dog Eating Contest will come to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium. There will be four participants from each team, and points will be awarded to the first place (12 points), second place (seven points) and third place (three points) winners.

The third quarter of 7-on-7 drills will follow that contest, and then the "Grove Bowl Gauntlet" will take place: four total rounds of a 5v5 relay style event. Each of the rounds won is worth five points.

The fourth quarter of 7-on-7 will conclude the day in Oxford.
