LISTEN: Can Suntarine Perkins Be A 'Fix' For Rebels Defense? - Locked On Ole Miss
Today's Locked On Ole Miss Podcast discusses the football defense and how Pete Golding has the opportunity in all of this defensive chaos to build an exciting unit.
Suntarine Perkins fits that bill, and since Ole Miss lacks the traditional "Jack" type player, Perkins should get a look there. If you creatively move him around to Jack, Husky and Will, you will have the offense guessing constantly, and you will have a situation similar to what the LSU Tigers had with Harold Perkins.
In the second segment of the show, we talk about post-spring report card grades and look at the safety room. Most all of these players were recruited for the 3-2-6 defense, so the result is a lot of box safeties that are strong near the line but struggle some in pass coverage. I expect Ole Miss to be pretty deep at Husky because of this, but I have concerns for depth in the SS and FS positions.
In our final segment of the day, we talk to Derek Vandygriff about the weekend baseball series with the Auburn Tigers and look at former rebels in MiLB that are off to hot starts…looking at you, Tim Elko.
