Way-Too-Early Staff Predictions: Ole Miss Rebels vs. ULM Warhawks

The Grove Report staff gives predictions for Ole Miss vs. Louisiana-Monroe.

OXFORD, Miss. -- After battling the Georgia Bulldogs on the road in Week 10, the Ole Miss Rebels have a much easier non-conference opponent slated for Week 11 in the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

Ole Miss is set to host the Warhawks in the Rebels' final home game of the 2023 season before the team travels to Starkville to end the regular season with the Egg Bowl.

ULM's schedule is not nearly as daunting as Ole Miss' this season, but it will not be an easy road regardless. The Warhawks enter 2023 without their starting quarterback from 2022, Chandler Rogers. Rogers entered the NCAA Transfer Portal following the 2022 season and later committed to the North Texas Mean Green in January.

Senior Jiya Wright is expected to be under center for the Warhawks in 2023 after competing with Rogers for the starting quarterback job a year ago. Wright has not thrown a regular season pass since 2021.

The last time Ole Miss and ULM met was in 2018 and the Rebels crushed the Warhawks 70-21 in Oxford. Quarterback Jordan Ta'amu led the Rebels in passing and freshman Matt Corral led Ole Miss on the ground with 78 rushing yards and one touchdown on just six carries.

ULM travels to Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Nov. 18, and the kickoff time has yet to be announced. We have taken a look at the keys to the game for both teams, but how does The Grove Report staff see the game playing out on the field?

Louisiana Monroe is like a flaky friend; sometimes they show up and sometimes they don’t. What do you think the Warhawks do against one of the better rushing teams in college football?

The Rebels put up 71 points and Matt Corral led the team in rushing as a freshman the last time ULM traveled to Oxford. This time around, running back Quinshon Judkins will lead Ole Miss on the ground and the Rebels will cruise to an easy victory ahead of their annual matchup with Mississippi State.

We've reached tune-up weekend before the Egg Bowl. Even if the Rebels are caught looking ahead, it shouldn't last more than half of a quarter. Ole Miss throttles Louisiana-Monroe and moves to 5-0 all-time against the Warhawks. Probably not as big as the 59-point victory margins the past two games, but pretty darn close.

If Ole Miss is in a place where it loses this game in 2023, things have gone very, very poorly. Rebs by a lot.
