Ole Miss Rebels WR Tre Harris Announces Intent To Return For 2024 Season

Tre Harris became an overnight sensation for the Ole Miss Rebels in 2023.

Ole Miss Rebels football isn't looking to rebuild, but rather regroup for 2024 as more players announce their intent to return to Oxford.

Wide receiver Tre Harris will return for the upcoming season, Ole Miss football's X account announced Monday. Harris has one more year of eligibility and should remain the top weapon for the Rebels after a breakout 2023 season.

After transferring from Louisiana Tech, Harris became the go-to target early in the season for Jaxson Dart. In his first game with the Rebels against Mercer, Harris totaled six catches for 133 yards and four touchdowns in the 73-7 victory.

Harris finished with a team-leading 851 receiving yards on 47 catches for eight touchdowns in 10 games. He also posted his first career 200-yard performance (213) in a Week 9 victory over Vanderbilt.

Fourth-year coach Lane Kiffin is no stranger when targeting pass-catchers in the portal. The Rebels are hoping to coax former South Carolina star Juice Wells away from other schools to join the program after his success in Columbia as Dayton Wade's replacement.

Harris' return now marks the third key offensive player to return for the 2024 season. Both receiver Jordan Watkins and tight end Caden Prieskorn announced they'd be headed back to Oxford next season.

Running back Quinshon Judkins, who posted his second 1,000-yard rushing season, is only a sophomore and can't declare until next offseason.

Dart, who posted career highs in nearly every passing metric, remains the final piece to decide what his future entails. Last month, Kiffin said during his weekly "Reb Talk" segment that Dart planned on returning for another year but later clarified that he misspoke for the junior gunslinger.

"That was a conversation between me and him and I kind of got caught off guard," Kiffin said. "I made sure that when I left the radio show, I said that to him, because that's really not my position to really say. When he's ready to talk to you guys about that, he will."

Should Dart return, the Rebels would retain their starting quarterback, starting running back, and three of the top four leading receivers, entering an era where the College Football Playoff will expand to 12 teams. Ole Miss, which posted its second 10-win regular season in program history, would have made the expanded CFP in 2023 as the No. 11 seed.

Harris and the No. 11 Rebels close out the season in Atlanta, Ga., against No. 10 Penn State in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 30 at 11 a.m. CT.
