2024 OL Isaiah Garcia Announces College Commitment

Isaiah Garcia is officially off the board.

2024 Draper (Ut.) Corner Canyon offensive lineman Isaiah Garcia has committed to Utah. He announced his decision on the 247Sports YouTube channel Saturday evening.

Garcia chose the Utes from a top three that also consisted of Oregon and Stanford. 

Rated a four-star (0.9198) recruit by the 247Sports Composite, the 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman is ranked the No. 1 player in the state of Utah. He's also ranked the No. 212 player nationally and the No. 16 offensive tackle. 

Garcia spent his first three seasons at Cyprus High School in Magna, Utah before transferring to Corner Canyon for 2023. 

His pledge to Utah is a massive win for Kyle Whittingham and company in Salt Lake City, as they keep the state's top player home to play his college football. The Utes have never been viewed as a recruiting power, but they're leveraging their NFL production and back-to-back Pac-12 titles into some tangible success on the trail.

Garcia is just the ninth pledge in the class, but he joins Corner Canyon quarterback Isaac Wilson as well as Sacramento (Calif.) High running back Lamar Radcliffe in the Utes' offensive haul this cycle.

Garcia's pledge to Utah probably stings for Oregon fans after missing out on Nebraska commit Preston Taumua earlier this month. I think those were two different recruitments, but either way they were two players that I felt Oregon was in a good spot for at various times. 

I thought Garcia was going to end up choosing between Oregon and USC in the end, but Utah really prioritized him in recent weeks and it paid off. He would have been a solid addition for Oregon as they continue pushing into the Beehive State, but their main priority, at least along the offensive line, is still Brandon Baker--the nation's No. 1 offensive tackle out of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei. He's a must-get recruit after they missed out on Elijah Rushing and Justin Williams as well.

Aside from Baker they'd probably like to continue looking at their options along the interior, particularly at center. There was some chatter that Tampa (Fla.) Catholic interior offensive lineman Eddy Pierre-Louis was going to make it out to Eugene for SNL, but it looks like he opted to stay closer to home and visit Miami. 

Garcia's pledge to Utah isn't a great look for A'lique Terry and Oregon offensive line recruiting, but it's not time to panic. The Ducks hit the portal hard last cycle and have some solid pieces in the fold for 2024 already--so I'm not overly worried. 

Right now they'll need to hold off Texas for Baker, who could be closing in on a decision sooner rather than later.
