Kamar Mothudi Recaps Oregon Visit

In this story:
Oregon's week 4 game against Colorado drew a lot of national attention and the Ducks delivered in the spotlight, defeating the Buffs 42-6.
A lot of recruits were in attendance at Autzen Stadium to soak it all in, including 2024 Los Alamitos (Calif.) linebacker and Oregon commit Kamar Mothudi.
He took some time to chat about the trip with Ducks Digest after a 49-10 Griffins win over Fountain Valley on Thursday night.

"That was my first game in Autzen and man the environment was crazy," Mothudi said. "Every seat was packed, it was so loud. It was a crazy gameday environment. It was amazing."
Oregon's defense was dominant against Colorado, limiting the Buffs to 199 total yards of offense. The future Ducks linebacker came away impressed by what he saw, and even expected the unit to dominate.

"Kind of being with the team a little bit before the game, the day before and seeing how they prepared I kind of knew it was gonna happen I expected to that degree.
"Every little thing they prepared for. Everything was meticulous. Everything was thought out and you could see it when it came time to be on the field: Physical, aggressive, great communication."
Head coach Dan Lanning's pregame speech has been making its rounds throughout the country and Mothudi shared his thoughts on what he saw from his future head coach.

"I loved it. It made me want to play," Mothudi said. "think a lot of people are almost reading too deep into it or trying to make it seem like it was targeting Deion. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn’t, but I think the main purpose was just to fire the players up, and that’s what he did.”

In the days since the game, it appears "rooted in substance" has become another mantra for the Ducks.
"I love it. It really is everything I want a program that I want to play for--that's everything I want it to be about. Rooted in substance. So hearing him say that, it's awesome."
His first trip to Eugene for a game gave him and fellow commits Dakoda Fields and Dylan Williams the opportunity to meet Nike Cofounder Phil Knight.
"It's just like a once in a lifetime opportunity," he noted of the encounter. "Going to Oregon I'll hopefully see more of him. But you know, I just wasn't expecting him to be there in that moment, just see him walking up the sideline and I'm like oh, kind of look at me and we go and shake hands like oh man it's kind of surreal."
Mothudi left Eugene feeling excited about what's to come both for himself and the Ducks, commenting on the direction of the program.
"As long as we keep our momentum up, keep getting wins and then we can knock off (U)SC and Washington I think it's a playoff spot for sure."
The Oregon linebacker commit has helped lead Los Alamitos to a 4-2 record on the year and despite earning Adidas All-American distinction, he's still trying to take his game to the next level.
"I think my next level is really just better film study one, because I think that's how you make more plays. Honestly just getting off of blocks. With my speed, if I'm able to not get touched there's no reason I shouldn't be able to make every play, so it's really just getting off of blocks."
Prediction: Oregon to land elite defensive back
