Pitt Basketball F Guillermo Diaz-Graham, Spanish National Team Advance in FIBA Tournament

The newly minted Pitt Panther will take on Poland in the opening round of the tournament stage on Wednesday.

PITTSBURGH -- Guillermo Diaz-Graham has already spent extended time away from the Pitt Panthers, as preliminary workouts ahead of the 2022-23 season get underway in Pittsburgh. And his stay in Montenegro for the 2022 FIBA U20 European Championships will last a little longer, as he and the Spanish national team carry their undefeated record from group play into the single-elimination tournament stage of the competition.

Diaz-Graham, who is entering his first year as a Panther, and Team Spain will kick off the tournament against Poland on Wednesday. Tip-off is scheduled for 8:15 a.m. on the United States' wast coast, 2:15 p.m. local time. Fans can watch a live stream of the game on FIBA's Youtube channel

Diaz-Graham has improved his play as the competition progressed. His best game was his last - a ten-point, three-block and two-steal performance against Ukraine on Monday. Through three games, he is averaging 7.3 points, 2 blocks and 1.7 rebounds per contest.
