Pitt Enters Selection Sunday Outside NCAA Tournament Field

The Pitt Panthers' odd of making the NCAA Tournament don't look good right now.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have spent all weekend sweating out the results of the various conference tournaments wrapping up around the country as they seek to earn their second consecutive NCAA Tournament berth in as many years, but the odds aren't looking good for them right now.

Both Fox Sports' Mike DeCourcy and ESPN's Joe Lunardi have Pitt on the wrong side of the bubble just hours before the brackets are finally revealed. Lunardi has the Panthers as one of the Next Four Out while DeCourcy has them in the First Four Out.

Pitt entered Selection Sunday 22-11 overall and 12-8 in ACC play, with a 7-4 record on the road that is tied for the fifth-most among power conference teams. They ranked 41st in the NET and 40th in KenPom and we're 9-9 in games against Quads 1 and 2.

A slew of bid-stealing wins for teams like NC State, Oregon and others make life difficult for the Panthers, who are looking to claim an at-large bid after their loss to North Carolina in the ACC tournament semifinals.
