Pitt Draws Missouri in ACC-SEC Challenge

In this story:
PITTSBURGH -- Out with the old and in with the new - the ACC-Big 10 Challenge has expired, opening the door for a new early-season nonconference competition between the ACC and SEC. The Pitt Panthers learned their opponent for the challenge this week.
Pitt will face Missouri in the inaugural ACC-SEC Challenge at the Petersen Events Center, according to a report from CBS Sports college basketball insider Jon Rothstein. The game will take place on November 28 at 7 p.m., with television designation for the game yet to be announced.

The Tigers were almost a mirror image of the Panthers last season - a squad laden with veteran transfers who won 25 games on the strength of a dynamic offense and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament after struggling through some down years.
Their top eight scorers were seniors last season, but Nick Honor (7.9 points, 2.9 assists per game, 40% from 3-point range), Noah Carter (9.6 points, 4.0 rebounds per game) and Sean East II (7.3 points, 2.5 rebounds per game) return and head coach Dennis Gates brings in America's No. 27 2023 recruiting class. Still, their only three double-digit scorers and three of the top five in terms of starts are gone, meaning the Tigers will look wildly different from their 2022-23 selves when they arrive at the Petersen Events Center this season.
This is the fifth Pitt non-conference game confirmed for the coming season. The Panthers already have a trip to Morgantown, West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers scheduled for December 6 and they will travel to Brooklyn, New York during the week of Thanksgiving for two games against either Baylor, Oregon State and Florida. They have also reportedly added a home game against Binghamton to the schedule.
