Pitt Basketball Adds 19-Year Coaching Veteran To Staff

Pitt women's basketball announced that Nick DiPillo will join Lance White's staff.

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt Panthers women's basketball will have a new face along the sideline this year, as head coach Lance White tries to make headway following a disappointing fourth year at the helm. He's brought in a strong 2022 recruiting class and is now bolstering his coaching staff with the addition of Nick DiPillo, a 19-year veteran of women's college and professional coaching.

"Nick brings a wealth of experience at the college and professional level," White said in a release from the program. "He is a fantastic recruiter and has a tireless work ethic. I think he is one of the best teachers in the country and will immediately impact the way we play on the offensive end of the floor. I couldn't be happier to have Nick join our team."

DiPillo has spent the last three seasons as head coach of Division III Scranton University. There, he led the Lady Royals to a 58-8 record, three conference championships and a Sweet 16 berth in the 2022 NCAA Tournament.

DiPillo began his coaching career in 2003 at Division III Kean University. He moved up to the professional ranks by taking an assistant coaching gig with the New York Liberty, where he worked from 2004 to 2008. He took a six year absence from coaching, but still worked as a trainer, before serving as an assistant coach at Seton Hall from 2014 to 2019.

DiPillo said that he sees great potential in this Pitt program.

"This program has a world of potential, can offer a championship level experience on and off the court and is on the cusp of doing some great things," he said.
