Pitt's William Jeffress, Nate Santos Trying Out For Spot in Foreign Tour

A pair of Panthers are hoping to make the USA East Coast Basketball team headed to Greece this summer.

PITTSBURGH --  A pair of Pitt Panthers are gearing up for international competition this summer. Underclassmen wings Nate Santos and William Jeffress, alongside 11 other players from all ranks of college basketball, have been selected to play with USA East Coast Basketball in an upcoming foreign tour to Greece. 

Santos, Jeffress and the rest of the team will travel to a two-day training camp on the campus of Columbia University in New York City before leaving for Athens, Greece. There, they will train for another two days before playing three games against some Greek professional teams. 

Joining Jeffress and Santos on the roster will be Matthew Kelly (Assumption), Ethan McEachern (Rochester), James Taylor (Mercy), Jordon Jefferson (Arkansas Little Rock), Aundre Hyatt (Rutgers), Mo Terry (Lycoming), Noah McDavid (Tarleton State), Ebby Asamoah (Delaware), Dyson Harward (Lycoming), Panayiotis Pavlidis (Molloy), and Nigel John (Arkansas Little Rock).

Arkansas Little-Rock head coach Darrell Walker will lead the coaching staff. He'll bring along Central Connecticut State head coach Guy Rancourt, Doug Thibault of IMG Academy and Mark Marino, who is currently the head basketball coach at nearby Plum High School. 

Jeffress averaged 3.3 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 31 appearances, and Santos posted 2.8 points and 1.9 rebounds over 25 games for the Panthers in 2021.
