Former Pitt Defender Works Out for Packers

Former Pitt Panthers defensive end Deslin Alexandre could join a playoff team this week.

PITTSBURGH -- A former Pitt Panther's defensive end is getting another shot at catching on with an NFL squad after bouncing between a couple of teams over the course of this season.

According to a report from KCRP2 in Houston's Aaron Wilson, the Green Bay Packers are taking a shot on the former Pitt standout and captain, Deslin Alexandre and bringing him in for a workout alongside former Dolphins and XFL defensive lineman, DeAndre Johnson.

Alexandre signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Jets following the 2023 NFL Draft but failed to catch on. He was cut following training camp but the Chicago Bears signed him to their practice squad just before the beginning of the season. Alexandre played 109 total snaps for New York in the preseason and notched seven tackles, five pressures, five defensive stops and a sack.

Now, after the Bears have moved on from Alexandre, he has a chance to catch on with a divisional rival and a team that is red-hot after upsetting the No. 2-seeded Dallas Cowboys on the road during Wild Card Weekend.
