Lucas Krull Not Pleased With NFL Combine Snub

The Pitt tight end says he was blocked for smaller school guys.

PITTSBURGH -- Pitt tight end Lucas Krull didn't get an invite to the 2022 NFL Combine due to smaller schools getting a better opportunity. According to Krull, the decision was made because the league expected a large showing at Pitt's Pro Day due to Kenny Pickett.

"What I was hearing just because they wanted to do a lot of smaller school guys that maybe [NFL teams] aren't going out to their Pro Days," Krull said. "They knew everyone was going to be here with Kenny. But at the end of the day, they overlooked me and I didn't get an invite."

So, Krull came out to Pitt's Pro Day with something to prove. He benched 14 reps of 225 pounds, ran a 4.54 40-yard dash and had a 35-inch vertical leap.

"Everyone's saying I had a really good day," Krull said. "I feel like people have not really been looking my way as I thought they did. That was something I came here to prove. I thought I did that well."

"Ran routes great. Did all my shuttles great," he added. "Can't complain, did what I came here to do."

But still, the expected late-round pick felt he had an opportunity to go to the NFL Combine and it was taken from him. So, he's going to continue to prove that decision wrong.

"No disrespect to anybody, but I felt like I should've been there," Krull said. "It's a thing that you want to do. You grow up, it's something you want to do. I didn't get the opportunity so I knew I had to come in and prove everyone wrong."
