Pitt WR Gavin Thomson Enters Transfer Portal

The Pitt Panthers have lost a third wideout to the transfer portal.

PITTSBURGH -- The Pitt Panthers have now lost a third wide receiver to the transfer portal. Gavin Thomson, a junior from Pittsburgh who attended Central Catholic High School before joining the Panthers as a walk-on, announced that he would enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer with two years of eligibility remaining.

"I would like to thank coach Narduzzi and the rest of the coaching staff for allowing me to play at The University of Pittsburgh," Thomson wrote. "To my teammates, thank you for these past four years and for the memories I have made along the way. They will last me a lifetime! I am very grateful for my time at Pitt but after careful consideration and guidance from my family and friends, I have decided to enter the transfer portal."

Thomson caught four passes for 39 yards in eight games at Pitt while also contributing on special teams. Thomson was put on scholarship this summer after a strong preseason training camp. He was in line for more playing time this fall after backup wide receiver Jaylon Barden and Jaden Bradley transfered themselves but he suffered an injury in the Louisville game.
