WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — No. 3 Purdue basketball improved to 24-4 and 13-4 in Big Ten play with an 82-55 win over Ohio State on Sunday at Mackey Arena. After the game, head coach Matt Painter discussed the team's dominant effort.

The Boilermakers, after being outrebounded on the road against Maryland, finished with a 44-21 rebound advantage over the Buckeyes. That number included 14 offensive boards that helped account for 17 second-chance points.

"I thought they did a good job just being quick to the basketball," Painter said. "At Ohio State, I didn't think we were very physical in our box outs. I thought we did a better job there, we still had a couple of lapses, but being able to outrebound someone by 23 is pretty impressive."

Ohio State was led by freshman forward Brice Sensabaugh, who scored 20 points on 8-of-16 shooting in the matchup. Senior forward Justice Sueing added 10, but the Boilermakers controlled the flow of the game and held the largest scoring run for the Buckeyes to just five points.

Purdue turned the ball over 11 times, matching Ohio State's total for the contest. The Buckeyes only managed 11 points off those opportunities.

"More than anything, just not turning the basketball over and allowing them to play in transition," Painter said. "The best stretches they had during the game is when we helped them and turned the basketball over.

"We knew they would go to isos with Sueing and Sensabaugh, we just wanted to have kind of a collective approach to that and make sure 10 eyes are on the basketball."

By taking care of the basketball, Purdue was efficient in its half-court sets as junior center Zach Edey tallied a game-high 26 points. He was one of nine players to score at least four points in the game.

Redshirt freshman forward Trey Kaufman-Renn contributed 11 points off the bench behind Edey. David Jenkins Jr. and Brandon Newman logged nine and eight points, respectively, while Mason Gillis and Ethan Morton each had seven.

"I think your percentages shooting are always going to be better when you make good decisions," Purdue coach Matt Painter said. "You're putting the ball on the money when you're passing, you're not throwing the ball at someone's feet.

"You have to put the ball in position to where they can score it. And I think that, for us, is just having good ball movement, getting good screening actions, getting the ball from side to side no matter what we're doing."
