For one of the few times all season long, Dawn Staley will face off against a coach whose list of accomplishments runs infinitely long, Kim Mulkely. Mulkey is one of four coaches to win three or more national championships and ranks 58th all-time in career wins. LSU's head coach is one of only a few people that could adequately validate and context how much of a powerhouse South Carolina has become under Dawn Staley's watch, which she did on Tuesday afternoon, starting with stating the obvious.

“You could probably tell me yourself, that’s how good they are," Mulkey told the reporter. "Tremendous depth, big size, tall, experienced, they know how to win and we just hope to go in there and play hard and fight and see what happens.”

When asked how Dawn Staley's mentality and approach have permeated her players, Kim referenced Dawn's success throughout her basketball career, firstly as a player and now as a coach.

“She’s a winner, she won at Virginia… and of course you know her olympic experiences as a player and as a coach. She’s just done it all as a player and is just having an unbelievable career now at South Carolina and has built a program that the entire state of South Carolina’s proud of.”

Of course, besides the two hall-of-fame coaches, the biggest headline in this game will be the matchup between two player-of-the-year candidates in South Carolina's Aliyah Boston and LSU's Angel Reese. When Mulkey was asked about this potential clash, she pointed out that South Carolina's entire lineup poses many problems.

“I think our posts are gonna have to guard all their posts. What’s gonna be very difficult is we’re not gonna grow to be 6’7 and 6’5 overnight," she joked. "They are relentless on the offensive boards… Those rebounds are a big concern, nobody seems to be able to stop them. I also think their transition game is very good, particularly when Raven [Johnson] is in the game. I think they can outlet pass with the best of them down the floor, and so we got to not only defend them in the half court and keep them off the offensive boards, you got to defend them in transition.”
