South Carolina Ready For Round Two With Kentucky

Dawn Staley and South Carolina will look to win their 28th straight game when they take on the Kentucky Wildcats on Thursday night.

South Carolina is beginning to enter the regular season's final turn and will face multiple opponents for the second time in as many weeks.

This first occurrence will occur later tonight when South Carolina hosts the Kentucky Wildcats. Kentucky, despite its record, has remained competitive against some of its fellow SEC counterparts, losing four conference games by four points or less.

In their first bout, the Wildcats held the advantage in the opening half with their aggressive offensive play and the Gamecocks' lackadaisical ball control. Still, South Carolina completely flipped the script in the second half and won by nearly 30 points.

This time around, Dawn Staley's squad should know what to expect from Big Blue Nation, a team with only a few players they can consistently rely on to put the basketball in the hoop.

Jada Walker and Robyn Benton will be the main players South Carolina's defenders need to keep in check, along with sharpshooting junior Maddie Scherr, who's coming off consecutive 20-plus point outings and scored a career-high 25 points last time against the Gamecocks.

Offensively, the Gamecocks should come in with the same game plan they executed last time against the Cats' attack of the paint in transition due to Kentucky's lack of a true center on their roster.
