How To Watch: South Carolina vs. Mississippi State
The South Carolina Gamecocks have seen their losing streak increase to five games and have looked outmatched most nights. However, this past Saturday night, it partially felt like the Gamecocks snatched defeat from the proverbial jaws of victory against the Georgia Bulldogs as they watched their double-digit lead slip away late in the contest and could not battle back in the overtime period.
The Gamecocks must clean their memory as they take on a Mississippi State squad that will arguably be an even tougher challenge from a defensive standpoint. The Bulldogs tout an aggressive defense known for taking the basketball; they rank second in the conference in forced turnovers.
After coughing up the basketball 18 times three days ago, the Gamecocks will undoubtedly be tested by the Bulldogs on their ability to maintain a calm presence in the face of constant pressure.
Defensively, the Gamecocks' recent progression in the front court will have to continue on Tuesday night. They must slow down 5th-year center Tolu Smith, who is averaging 14.4 points and 8.2 rebounds per game this season for Mississippi State.
Josh Gray and Benjamin Bosmans-Verdonk will work extra hard to earn good positioning on the floor, while Hayden Brown must stay out of foul trouble to provide off-ball help when needed.
